Now that we have closed the door on 2017, i thought it would be good to send out a Bucknucks Update. We've been accepting books at both locations since the New Year and as expected, Cobble Hill had a huge influx due to the moratorium in December. Thankfully we had some room for all the incoming and so we aren't completely overrun, so keep on bringing us the good stuff. A book store without new interesting inventory would be quite boring. We put out over 100 books a day so there's always something fresh on the shelves.
December is here! After Months of being surrounded by towers of boxes, it is finally that time of year when our Cobble Hill store puts a hold on incoming books. As we do every year in December, we put a sign on the door and say no to incoming batches of books. We focus our energy on getting all of those boxes emptied out and put onto the shelves so there is tonnes of fresh inventory to select. There's an impending holiday season upon us and we have to get those books out on the shelf. Thank you for your cooperation during our catch up time.
Hi everyone. We've been trying to keep up with the books coming in since mid june, but it's been a losing battle. We have to put a stop to the large estates and downsizing drop-offs for the time being. We just don't have the space. We will try to implement a ONE box/bag limit on incoming books. Please do not find a garbage bag or the biggest box you have and fill it up; we don't want to cause back injuries. Small to medium size boxes and bags only. Thank you for your help.
I had put a stoppage on incoming books in May because we were completely full. At that time I had been telling people that we had to clear out the frnt from boxes and then we would accept books again. It appears we have cleared out the front, so I have removed the signs saying "no books".
That means we are welcoming books into the store again. Thank you for your patience while we sorted out the logjam.
If youhave been to our Cobble Hill location you will have noticed that there are a lot of boxes everywhere. We've taken in more books in the last four months than we can handle. It's the first thing everyone says when they come in the store. Most common is "Do you have enough books", followed closely by "Do you still have to go through ALL THESE BOXES?"
Every year, we stop accepting books around this time. Bucknucks has never accepted book in December since we have to get stock out on the shelves for the Holiday season. We schedule a break from receiving inventory. The stoppage allows us to focus on getting books out on the shelf, and to make the store more tidy and presentable.
Cowichan location (south of Duncan) is accepting books once again. we will accept for the month of November, but we will still have our regularly scheduled stoppage in December. Thanks for your patience the last two weeks while we cleared space.
I held off as long as i could, but as of today Bucknucks in Cobble Hill is not accepting any more books until we clear the backlog. If it takes until the new year then so be it. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Rest assured that there will be over 200 new books on the shelves in Cowichan every day as we clear out all the boxes we have accumulated.
Since we aren't going to accept books in June, we though we had better open the floodgates for a few weeks prior to that. thanks for your patience while we caught up a bit. There are many many books still in boxes, but there are less than there were a few weeks ago so away we go again.
Be aware that in June we don't take any books, so bring them in while you can or you'll have to wait.
thanks for your cooperation.
There are over 200 boxes in the store that need attention, so we are having an unscheduled stoppage for incoming books.
We will begin accepting books again in July. Thank you for your cooperation.
