Well folks, on this day in 1759 (255 years ago) the great Scottish poet Robert Burns was born. He died at the young age of 37 from mundane causes, but during his life he penned many great works and is widely referred to as the National Poet of Scotland. He is known as Robbie Burns, Rabbie Burns, Scotland's Favourite son, the Ploughman poet, Robden of Solway Firth, the Bard of Ayrshire and in Scotland as the Bard.
Always the turning of the year is a time for reflection. We look at the good, the bad, and the ugly from our last trip around the sun. Then, we try to figure out what we need more of, and less of, and then make a resolution to bring in more good and filter out the bad. It's a cleansing of sorts, usually spent with friends and family. And some of us blog about it, too!
